Knee Jerk Reaction's love affair with superscience, big
sound, and furious grooves is shaking things up. KJR brings
their brand of sonic experimentation to the stage with a
hybrid of power pop, funk rock, retro-soul sampling, and
electro-groove.
The doctors David Baker (vocals, guitar, keys), Keith Ash
(bass, vocals), Doug Shaffer (guitar, vocals, keys), Matt
Kennedy (guitar, vocals), and David Strayer (drums) have
clocked hours with the likes of Solomon Burke, The Dust Brothers,
Paula Cole, and Ben Lee. The KJR staff has gathered extensive
research with which to develop their musical muscles. Building
on the success of their 1998 release Bandwidth (SR0401/MBM
101), KJR has taken the proverbial quantum leap forward with
their new mixed media release, State of Matter (SR0402),
on which KJR combines hooky rock songs with inventive lyrics
on the subjects of science and matters of the heart.
